The year witnessed some gruesome crime incidents, including the gang rape of a hotel employee in a moving car. Veteran Sikh activist Surat Singh Khalsa also kept the police on toes throughout the year. The year also saw several shocking accidents including the death of 3-year-old Damul, who was run over by a freak driver while reversing his car and drowning of one-and-half-year-old Aryan, who was dragged into the Buddha Nullah by fighting bulls.
