Karishma Manandhar is undoubtedly one of the most popular actresses in the Nepali film industry. The actress, who made her debut in the film Santaan at the age of 14, has been a part of the industry for three decades now. After the Great Earthquake struck on April 25, Manandhar realised the extent of the calamity that had been inflicted upon the people around the country and started engaging in relief operations just a week after the disaster. Till date, the actress has reached Kavre three times–taking along with her relief material–to Sindupalchok and to most of the quake-affected areas around the Kathmandu Valley. And while she is at it, she has been trying to help the victims overcome their sorrow with her support and kind words. The Post’s Anup Ojha caught up with the evergreen actress and talked to her about her earthquake and her relief experiences. Excerpts: - S

It is a fierce predator, a nighttime hunter with crazy-good vision and powerful talons that can swoop down and snatch prey the size of a skunk off the ground. It can carry three times its weight – it might even be responsible for a missing cat in your neighborhood.<br />
It’s one of seven types of raptors birds of prey that reside around Orange County, where sick or injured birds are taken for rehabilitation at the Orange County Bird of Prey Center in Lake Forest.<br />

“The majority of the birds that come through our facility we are able to release back into the wild,” said Chase, the nonprofit center’s lead educator.Raptors that arrive at the all-volunteer center suffering from disabling injuries or handicaps so severe that they would never survive being released into the wild are either euthanized, cared for permanently or transferred to another facility, Chase told a recent audience at the visitor center of San Clemente State Park.

 The talks between the top leaders of the three major three parties and the United Democratice Madhesi Front (UDMF) held at the prime minister's offical residence on Thursday has ended wihtout reaching any deals. The meeting struck no deals after the UDMF stuck to its guns saying that all the issues including the constitution amendment bill should be resolved 'in a package', said Madhesi People's Rights Forum Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar. Chairman Gachchhadar reiterated that the government is serious on resolving the Madhes issues through dialogue. Emerging from the meeting, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav said the current government cannot revise the amendment bill and even if it is endorsed, it will not accommodate the Madhes issues.

The Metropolitan Police Office [MPO], Ranipokhari, Kathmandu was established on 01/08/2063 B.S. as the primary law enforcement agency for Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur districts of the Kathmandu Valley. It has authority to command all the police components located in its area of responsibility. The chief of Metropolitan Police is the Police Commissioner (Additional Inspector General of Police, AIGP) who reports to the Inspector General of Police. The Metropolitan Police comprises of Public Security Division, Administration Division, Intelligence Division, Inspectorate, Crime Division, Traffic Division, Armed Police Battalion, Riot Control Battalion, Garrison Battalion, Control Room, 3 Ranges, 18 Circles, 50 Sectors, 3 Area Police Offices and 23 Police Posts at present. Other Divisions and Sections will become functional in due course. The MPO today is on the forefront of technological crime fighting advances from highly developed advances in evidence analysis to state-of the-art-information technology.
