The meeting of the India's upper house Rajya Sabha was adjourned not long after it began deliberation on the tension seen in the Nepal-India relationship.
In the beginning of the session, India's Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj was about to read a written statement on current Nepal-India issue. But she was stopped by the Sabha's Deputy Chairman P. J. Kurien stating that the satement was already distributed to the MPs and therefore it would be time consuming to read it.
Speaking in the meeting, several MPs argued that the two countries' relationship was at the record worst point owing to India's meddling on Nepal's internal affairs. They stated the obstructions at the border had caused severe shortage of essentials including fuel and cooking gas.
The meeting was adjourned with the decision to hold a lengthy discussion on the issue in the next meeting. India's Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj will address the issues raised by the MPs.
